Good
morning to you, today is Thursday, January 26, 2012, and I am your humble host,
the sultan of satire, the purveyor of non-pertinent information, the troublemaker
extraordinaire and I am coming to you recorded from the Eagle’s nest here at
wake up central with news you can’t use here on the Thursday edition of The
Morning Wake Up Call.
Teen Reported Mom for Having Sex
A Florida teenager called
911 last week to ask police to place her in a children’s shelter because she
“heard her mother having sex.”
The
15-year-old girl felt disrespected when overhearing her mother having sex late
one night, so she called Panama City police to report the situation, The
Smoking Gun first reported on its website.
When
police arrived at the home in the early hours on Jan. 19, the girl’s mother
explained that she was with her boyfriend and didn't intend to wake her
daughter. But their bedrooms are right next to each other, according to the
police report, which was obtained by FoxNews.com.
At
some point, the mother and daughter had an argument, the police report said.
The
teen, who told police that there was no abuse, originally asked to be taken to
the Hidle House, which is a temporary home for children who are homeless or
abused. But after speaking with a representative, she decided it was almost
time for school and decided to stay put.
A
domestic rights brochure was left for the family, the police report said.
Lohan In The News Again – Huffington Post
LOS ANGELES -- Lindsay
Lohan's bad luck with cars continues after a woman who claims she was struck by
the actress' sports car sued over her injuries Wednesday. Nubia Del Carmen
Preza claims she was struck by Lohan's Maserati while walking through a West
Hollywood intersection in September 2010.
Preza's lawsuit states she has suffered "disabling and
serious personal injuries, pain, suffering and anguish" and that she is
seeking damages for all her medical expenses and lost time at work. A call to
her attorney, Gregory Picco, seeking additional details was not immediately
returned.
It is the second lawsuit filed against Lohan this month involving
an automobile mishap. A paparazzo sued Lohan Jan. 10, claiming that he was
struck in January 2010 by a vehicle in which Lohan was riding. Grigor Balyan
claims he was trying to shoot pictures of the actress in Hollywowhen he was
hit.
Preza's lawsuit states Lohan was driving when she was hit on the
afternoon of Sept. 1, 2010, at an intersection just south of the Sunset Strip.
At the time, Lohan lived near the intersection.
Not so Death Row
Danny Robbie Hembree
considers himself a gentleman of leisure. He enjoys color TV, air conditioning
and abundant food. He naps pretty much whenever he feels like it.
He
also happens to live on death row at Central Prison in Raleigh, N.C. But that’s
not a bad thing, he wrote in a taunting letter to his hometown newspaper, the
Gaston Gazette.
In
fact, Hembree wrote, the state of North Carolina has taken the
"death" out of death row.
"Kill
me if you can, suckers. Ha! Ha! Ha!" Hembree gloated in his letter,
portions of which were published by the Gazette on Tuesday.
Hembree,
50, was sentenced to death in November for suffocating a 17-year-old girl in
2009, and is also accused of killing two other North Carolina women. But no one
has been executed in the state since 2006 because of legal challenges over
lethal injections and whether a physician must oversee executions.
"Is
the public aware that the chances of my lawful murder taking place in the next
20 years if ever are very slim?" Hembree wrote on lined notebook paper in
what he described as an editorial.
Meanwhile,
life is sweet. "Is the public aware I am a gentleman of leisure, watching
color TV in the A.C., reading, taking naps at will, eating three well-balanced
meals a day?" he wrote.
Oh,
and he also receives free government healthcare, he pointed out.
The
man who prosecuted Hembree, Gaston County Dist. Atty. Locke Bell, was not
amused.
11 Year Old Good Samaritan
Honey
Brook’s Conner Haines is a young man who has not hesitated in tapping into his
potential. The eleven-year-old has a love for computers and games, particularly
the popular programs known as ‘apps’ (short for applications) which are found
on smartphones and tablet devices such as the iPhone and iPad. His tech savvy
is such that he decided to undertake learning how to create apps of his own,
and his heart is such that he has chosen to use his ability at creating apps to
raise money to help kids with cancer.
Conner and
his mother, Dawn Haines, have begun this process by laying the groundwork for
the creation of Conner’s non-profit organization, BElieve, which encourages
5-12 year old cancer patients to send their ideas for apps to Conner for
development. In turn, Conner will sell these apps through Apple and donate the
money raised to the Make-A-Wish Foundation. The only caveat, according to
Conner’s Web site, www.flipflopgames.com, is “Please make sure the idea of the
game is not too hard for me to develop. I’m only 11 years old, thanks.”
