Oscar’s
The Oscars were last night, from what I have been able to figure out the biggest story from that is JLo had a near wardrobe malfunction.  OK, can we move on with the wardrobe malfunctions?  I saw the 8 second video clip and there was nothing anywhere near a malfunction with the exception that I hope she got that dress for half price since she only got half a dress.

The Sky is Falling
NEW YORK –  The husband of a Manhattan real-estate agent left with severe injuries after a shopping cart was dropped on her head from an East Harlem parking garage claims lax security caused the devastating accident.
Michael Hedges claims in a lawsuit against the East River Plaza shopping center that if there had been enough security at the mall, two boys would not have been able to send the shopping cart plunging four stories onto his wife's head.
Marion Hedges was going to the Target with her son Dayton to buy Halloween candy for underprivileged kids when Raymond Hernandez, 12, and Jeovanni Rosario, 13, pushed the cart over the edge.

More Guns……Less Crime
How tragic for Comrade Obama: the one positive result of his presidency is something no liberal could ever admit to. By terrifying Americans into buying guns in record numbers, he has lowered the rate of crimes committed with guns, because as every counter moonbat knows, more guns = less crime:
Despite [sic] increases in gun sales, gun crimes continued to decrease in the United States for the fourth straight year in 2010, according to the FBI.
The FBI recently released its Crime in The United States statistics for 2010. Overall, murders in the U.S. have decreased steadily since 2006, dropping from 15,087 to 12,996. Firearms murders — which made up 67 percent of all murders in the U.S. in 2010 — have followed this trend, decreasing by 14 percent.
At the same time that firearms murders were dropping, gun sales were surging. In 2009, FBI background checks for guns increased by 30 percent over the previous year, while firearms sales in large retail outlets increased by almost 40 percent. The number of applications for concealed carry permits jumped across the country as well.
An armed society is a polite society, as well as a free one. Ultra-liberal DC stands or rather slumps in stark contrast:
Broken down by firearms murder rate per 100,000 people, the District of Columbia is number one, with 16 firearms murders per 100,000 people in the District.
D.C. also topped the list of firearm robberies per 100,000 people with 255.98.
Yet D.C. arguably has the tightest gun laws in the country. Although an outright ban on handguns was struck down by the Supreme Court in 2008, legislators ensured the new regulations for obtaining a registered handgun would be anything but easy.
This ensures that only criminals are able to acquire guns easily, which is why DC’s gun crime rates are so high.
Freedom from excessive government relieves most of society’s ills; crime is no exception.

Dream Come True
Taylor Swift might not be going to prom with teen fan Kevin McGuire, but the songstress has invited the 18-year-old to the Academy of Country Music Awards as her date.
His answer? Yes!
McGuire, a New Jersey high school student, is battling cancer for a second time, but he’s not letting treatment hold him back.
Earlier this week, McGuire’s sister Victoria took to Facebook and created a page titled “Taylor Swift Take Kevin McGuire To Prom!” The athlete is a big fan of the country singer, and his sister thought it would be a worthwhile idea to ask Swift to the dance on his behalf.
McGuire was all for the idea, but didn’t think anything would come of it, The Courier-Post reports.
Well, buzz about the Facebook page garnered plenty of media attention, and on Friday Taylor Swift took to her Facebook page and gave McGuire a response:
“ Kevin, I’m sorry but I won’t be able to make it to your prom. But I was wondering, the ACM Awards are coming up.. Would you be my date?” – Taylor Swift
McGuire, who’s currently receiving treatment at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, was ecstatic about the news and said the offer was “a lot better than the senior prom,” The Courier-Post reports.
“I’ve never seen him smile like that,” Victoria McGuire told FOX 29 News.
The teen’s support team updated their Facebook page with the latest development:
** Taylor got back to us!!!! She is unable to attend Kevin’s prom, although did one better- Invited Kevin to be her date to the Academy of Country Music Awards!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thank you so so so so so much! The McGuire family could never show how grateful we are to all of you! We have won in more than one way.. we got Taylor to take Kevin on a date, and we have made so many good friends along the way! **
McGuire will continue to receive treatment, and he’s determined to win the battle against leukemia.
“I had no doubt I would kick its butt the first time, and I did,” McGuire told MyFoxPhilly.com. “Hopefully I’ll be able to continue that this time…”
The Academy of Country Music Awards will be held April 1 in Las Vegas.

Victoria Secrets Model Quit Over Faith
On Monday evening’s episode of The Glenn Beck Program, Glenn interviewed former Victoria’s Secret model Kylie Bisutti, who quit a coveted modeling job with the mega-lingerie purveyor over concerns the role compromised her Christian faith.
She claims that even though it seems she gave up everything, all the publicity generated from her decision has actually helped, rather than hurt her career.
Glenn opened the segment by asking Bisutti how she came about finding her faith.
Bisutti, who grew up in Las Vegas — a town obviously know best for its “sins” — said that she started going to church only once she was in high school and that she wasn’t baptized until she was age 16. It was a school friend who introduced the budding model to faith and the Lord. Bisutti told Glenn that her mother, and later father, have also started to find God in recent years.
She discussed the dark side of modeling, touching on a world filled with a pressure to achieve “perfection” by losing weight, which, in many instances, leads to debilitating eating disorders.
Bisutti claims that even though she beat out 10,000 other aspiring Victoria’s Secret models, she soon realized — especially after starting to read the Bible more — that lingerie modeling was not conducive to “honoring God” or her new husband.
But it wasn‘t until she started posing for men’s magazines like Maxim and FHM that Bisutti truly started to recoil from her newfound occupation. “It really broke my heart” to pose in lingerie that was not for women but instead intended for other men to see, she said.
She asserts that she is “so much happier now” that she has “found” who she truly is.
For Bisutti, happiness is “not in that world, but in what I am doing now.”
“My faith is more important and I want to honor God,” she said. “I don’t feel like I am honoring him when I am half-naked.”

Pay It Forward Kidney Donations
It all started with a good Samaritan and a pay-it-forward attitude: the concept of a kidney donation chain was born. In what is being heralded as proof of this donation technique’s success, the world’s longest kidney donation chain recently ended but not before it saved 30 lives.
In August, Rick Ruzzamenti, 44, made the unprecedented decision to donate his kidney to a stranger — an organ that many wait for five to 10 years before finding a match. The Daily Mail reports that Ruzzamenti’s kidney went to a 66-year-old man from New Jersey whose niece had wanted to donate, but she was not a blood match. So what did she do? Turned around and donated her kidney to a stranger who would be a match. And so the process went from one person to another with 60 total donors and recipients — that’s 30 lives saved.
The last donation came from a 59-year-old woman to recipient Donald Terry, 47, who did not have a relative to keep the chain going on his behalf. According to a statement, this chain, along with several others, started at Loyola University Medical Center. Of the 13 chains that began at Loyola, seven were started by employees of this medical institution — five donated to strangers, two to acquaintances. It is reported that Loyola is the only place in the world that has such a high density of employees that have donated kidneys to non-relatives.

The First American Pope
Will American Cardinal become the first American pope? This is a question that found its way into observers’ minds of late, as the Archbishop of New York, along with 21 of his fellow Catholic leaders, was elevated to cardinal in Rome on Saturday.
As The Blaze mentioned over the weekend, some Italian and American media outlets have been wondering if Dolan has, due to his charismatic nature and appealing qualities, a chance at becoming the church’s top clergy member.
“Dolan is already being touted by some Vatican experts as a possible future candidate to become the first American pope,” reported MSNBC over the weekend. And and Sunday, ABC News produced a video report exploring this very same subject:
As we noted in our previous report, Americans are traditionally not considered papal contenders. After all, the U.S. dominates in so many other areas that internationally, the notion of a “Super Power Pope” is generally frowned upon.
Dolan, himself, is aware that there is some papal buzz over his potential future consideration (although ABC News calls it “a long shot”). When asked about the issue on Saturday, he said, “Io non parlo inglese,“ which translates to ”I don’t speak English.” Clearly, he’s not interested in commenting on the matter — but that hasn’t stopped people from chattering about it.
Considering that there’s no telling how long it will be until the next pope is sought out, taking such a humble stance is probably best. While the odds are stacked against Dolan, there’s no telling what the future could hold.

Valentine’s Day Role Play
One couples’ bondage role play on Valentine’s Day ended in handcuffs, but not the fuzzy kind.
Portland, Ore., police received a call Tuesday afternoon that a naked woman was tied up in the back of a Subaru last seen leaving a supermarket parking lot.
Police deployed “at least nine cars” to look for the SUV and even alerted authorities in Washington in case the car crossed the state line.
Twenty minutes later, the Subaru was seen pulling into the driveway of the registered owner’s address.
Nikolas Harbar, 31, who was the driver, told police that he and his girlfriend were “doing some Valentine’s Day role playing.”
Once police confirmed with Stephanie Pelzner, 26, that she was voluntarily nude and tied up, they slapped a pair of cuffs on the couple and booked them on one charge of disorderly conduct in the second degree.
“Role-play all you want,” Sgt. Pete Simpson told ABC affiliate KATU. “But when you do something that is going to generate a 911 call, you should probably do it at home.”

Super Hero Dad
Tommy Jordan has become somewhat of a hero to millions of parents. Jordan is the dad who found a secret Facebook post his daughter wrote about not wanting to do chores and said Jordan and his wife (the girl’s mother) treated her as a “slave.” He didn’t take kindly to that. So he recorded an eight-minute video that showed him reading the note while smoking a cigarette and ended with him shooting nine “exploding hollow point” rounds into the girl’s computer.
Well, the story doesn’t end there. In a new post on Jordan’s Facebook page, he says that numerous people called the police and child protective services as a result of his viral (millions of hits) video. And both paid him a visit.
“For those that feel the need to keep calling the police and CPS,” the Stanly County, North Carolina resident writes, “lol.“ Those letters are the universal symbol for ”laugh out loud.”
He‘s laughing because both the police and child protective services didn’t find anything wrong.
“Apparently both the local police and the department of social services are OK with it. Yes they came. Of course they came. They received enough ‘Oh my god he’s going to kill his daughter’ comments that they had to. I knew that the moment it went viral.. it [sic] was too late and it was inevitable. I’m only surprised it took as long as it did to be honest,” he explains.
In fact, he says the police told him “Kudos, Sir“ and he received a ”thank you” from an entire detectives squad. Another officer, he says, “is using it in a positive manner in his presentation for the school system.”
“How’s about those apples?” he asks. “Didn’t expect THAT when you called the cops did you?”

Cheer Coach Gone Wild
A TX cheer coach has been removed from her position after a student recorded her screaming at her cheerleaders and calling them “highfalutin heifers.”
“Who do you think you all are? Highfalutin heifers. You can just come and go as you please? Fire me!” the coach, from the Houston area, was heard screaming.
“I think that’s too much,” parent Khristina Melton told KPRC. “Even though they’re in high school, they shouldn’t be called anything different.”
“The term ‘heifer’ basically means overweight or obese,” Abel Olivares, the father of the girl who recorded the rant, said. “It’s definitely a negative term.” He wants the coach fired from her teaching job, too. Apparently the incident was just one of many.
But the coach isn’t the only one who got punished. Olivares’s daughter was sentenced to two days of detention because she used her cell phone to record the episode on school property and shared it with friends.
“They’re supposed to be there to learn, feel safe, feel that the teacher is going to have a high standard, just like they’re expected to do,” the dad added. “If nothing else, that audio protects another kid from being yelled at or verbally abused, then you did a good thing.”
But not everyone is buying it. One student told KPRC that yelling is just part of what coaches do.
The coaches name has not been released since she is not being charged with a crime.
What do you think? Should the coach have been removed, and possibly fired, for yelling at students?

No Smell Policy
Less is more, according to New Hampshire lawmakers debating whether to ban the use of scented or fragrant soaps by state employees.
Under House Bill 1444, state workers who interact with the public would be prohibited from wearing fragrances or scented products while on the job, MyFoxBoston reported.
The reason for the proposed ban -- exposure to scented products can irritate or worsen symptoms for people with asthma or allergies.
"The chemicals in some of these products can trigger the nasal congestion, sneezing and the runny nose," Dr. Stanley Fineman, an allergist with Emory University and the Atlanta Allergy and Asthma Clinic, told MyFoxBoston. "With the asthmatics, there's really good data showing their lung function changes when they're exposed to these compounds."
The legislation will get a vote Wednesday. If passed and signed into law, it would take effect within 60 days.

Happy Medical Marijuana Week!
In celebration of America's safest illicit drug, cannabis activists across the county have planned aseries of events designed to put pressure on elected officials and bring more attention to the issue.
(Gatherings across the country include phone banks to the White House, petitions, rallies and even movie nights. San Franciscans plan to stage demonstrations at both Tuesday's Board of Supervisors meeting and President Obama's local fundraiser Thursday night.
Medical marijuana in San Francisco has been on a roller-coaster ride as of late. At the end of last month, the city's previously-suspended dispensary licensing program resumed.
The following week, the San Francisco Examiner reported that the DEA has begun investigating a dozen local cannabis clubs, including renowned shops The Vapor Room, Grass Roots and The Green Cross. Similar investigations in the past have led to dispensaries' closures.
The future of legalized medical marijuana may be murky, but this week, the activists' message will be clear. Take a look at San Francisco's calendar of events below, and click over to Americans for Safe Access for a more detailed list of nationwide events.

Lunch Box
A Hoke County preschooler was fed chicken nuggets for lunch because a state worker felt that her homemade lunch did not have enough nutritional value, according to a report by the Carolina Journal.
The West Hoke Elementary School student was in her More at Four classroom when a state agent who was inspecting lunch boxes decided that her packed lunch — which consisted of a turkey and cheese sandwich, a banana, apple juice and potato chips — “did not meet U.S. Department of Agriculture guidelines,” the Journal reports.
The decision was made under consideration of a regulation put in place by the the Division of Child Development and Early Education at the Department of Health and Human Services, which requires all lunches served in pre-kindergarten programs to meet USDA guidelines.
“When home-packed lunches do not include all of the required items, child care providers must supplement them with the missing ones,” the Journal reports.
The student’s mother told the Journal she received a note from the school about the incident and was charged $1.25 for the cafeteria tray, from which her daughter only ate three chicken nuggets.
The note explained how students who did not bring “healthy lunches” would be offered the missing portions and that parents could be charged for the cost of the cafeteria food, the Journal reports.
The mother, who was not identified in the report, expressed concern about school officials telling her daughter that she wasn’t “packing her lunch box properly.”

Melting Pot
The Pakistani doctor who helped Navy SEALs bring down Usama bin Laden and got locked up for his trouble deserves U.S. citizenship and a medal, according to a lawmaker.
Rep. Dana Rohrabacher (R-Calif.) introduced a bill that would make Dr. Shakeel Afridi an American citizen in return for his work gathering intelligence that helped U.S. forces locate and kill the world's most-wanted terrorist last May. Rohrabacher also intends to recommend Afridi for the Congressional Gold Medal later this week.
“We are trying to honor him because he helped bring the man responsible for killing nearly 3,000 Americans to justice,” Rohrabacher told FoxNews.com. “He did so at a great personal risk. He deserves our deepest gratitude.”
Afridi is currently being held for treason by Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence Agency and could possibly face the death penalty for his role in helping Americans mount a raid within Pakistan. Reports also suggest that his wife, an American citizen of Pakistani origin, has disappeared.

World’s Oldest Twins
Edith Ritchie and Evelyn Middleton turned 102 on November 15, but they had to wait until this week for the real present.
Guinness World Records has named the centenarian sisters, who hail from Aberdeenshire, Scotland, the world's oldest twins.
“Edith and Evelyn are a remarkable pair," said Guinness World Records Editor-in-Chief Craig Glenday in a press release.
"When they were born, the likes of Mark Twain and Florence Nightingale were still alive, and we had yet to conquer the South Pole. They’re not just the oldest in the UK, they hold the world title. They’ve clearly benefitted from good genes, and a solid life-long friendship that only twins can truly understand.”
The sisters just edged out the previous record holders Ena Pugh and Lily Millward, who are still alive and kicking, just six weeks younger.
Although there are claims of 107-year-old twins living in the Ukraine, the Scottish sisters' claim remains the only record verified by Guinness officials, reported the Metro.co.uk.
The twins are not identical, but their mother always dressed them exactly the same, with bows in their matching long brown plaits, according to the Daily Mail.
After leaving school, the sisters worked on farms before leaving to start their own families.
Evelyn married William Middleton and had four children, 12 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren.

Giant Proposal
After winning his first Super Bowl on Sunday night, New York Giants' rookie linebacker Greg Jones surprised his girlfriend, Mandy Piechowski, with an on-field proposal.
After Piechowski ran to congratulate her boyfriend on his big win, Jones pulled out a round-cut diamond engagement ring, got down on one knee and popped the question. In tears, Piechowski said yes.
The couple have been dating for a year and a half. They met at Michigan State University three years ago where Jones played football and Piechowski played basketball.

Breaking the Sound Barrier
It is the ultimate in parachute jumps: from the edge of space, Felix Baumgartner will leap from a balloon, plummeting to the ground 120,000 feet below.  After 35 seconds he will break the sound barrier, and finally, at 5,000 feet he will deploy a parachute and – hopefully – land safely on the ground.  During his 10-minute journey to earth the Austrian will travel at more than 690 miles per hour inside a special suit, which must protect him from temperatures as low as -94 degrees F.  He will rely on its oxygen tanks as the air is too thin to breathe – and hope that the sheer force of the fall does not make him blackout. The team working with the Austrian will this week announce that an attempt to make the record breaking jump will take place in August above New Mexico.  Mr Baumgartner, who in 2003 became the first person to "skydive" across the English Channel, will undertake two test jumps at 60,000 feet and 90,000 feet over the coming months to make sure the specialised equipment he is using will help him survive.

Gone But Not Missing
A Wisconsin man who was thought to have moved away in 2007 reportedly killed himself, leaving his "nearly skeletonized body" to rot in his home for more than four years.
The discovery of David Carter's remains occurred last month after his West Allis foreclosed home was handed over to the city due to unpaid property taxes, the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.
Carter's "nearly skeletonized body" was found on the home's second floor and a handgun was found lying on his chest, according to the medical examiner's report which concluded he died from a gunshot wound to the head.
Carter, 41, likely died in late 2007 after quitting his job and telling friends he was moving to New Mexico, according to the newspaper.
